In a groundbreaking feat of engineering, Japanese company Tsubame Industries has turned the fantasy of science fiction into a reality with their latest creation – Archax, a transformer robot that can morph into a car.
At an impressive height of 4.5 meters (14.8 feet), Archax is a testament to the technological advancements of our time. For a price of 400 million yen ($2.6 million), Tsubame Industries is offering five preorders for this futuristic machine.
Unlike the Transformers from the popular franchise, Archax isn’t autonomous and requires a human pilot. The pilot controls the 3.5-ton robot from within, much like a Gundam robot, using an intricate system of two joysticks, two pedals, and a touch panel. Multiple cameras and screens provide the pilot with a comprehensive view of the outside world.
While Archax won’t be running around fighting Decepticons any time soon, it’s sure to be an exhilarating experience for any pilot. The robot moves on wheels attached to the ends of its limbs and has a maximum speed of 10 kilometers per hour (6.2 miles per hour), which is on the lower end of walking speed. Regardless, piloting a transforming robot is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that is sure to leave an indelible mark on the pilot’s memory.
